What have I learned this week? Inventions introduce ugly ‘jargon’, but t’was ever thus. The ‘blogger.com’ web-site is easy to use, but some of the symbols need exploring further when I have more time, and I must find out how to arrange my pictures more attractively. “Blogs” (or, ‘Bunny Logs’) can be used for different purposes, so their content will vary. For example, if one is an Ambulance Driver, Prostitute, or Soldier, one can use them to tell the world about your exciting life!

For libraries, writing a ‘blog’ is an excellent way of contacting those readers whose lives revolve around their micro-computer, but the format seems more suited to unstructured writings. A fake informality, with a masaala of ‘stream-of-consciousness’ diary entries, is not helpful to readers looking for specific advice. It would be better to put routine notices about new books, shelf-changes, meetings, etc., under dedicated headings on the library’s web-site no more than a click away; emergencies should be on the library’s front page. Just make sure you do not forget to put notices on the library notice boards, leave messages on the telephone answering machine, send telexes and bunnygrams, etc., for those who care to look up from computer screens.

Perhaps readers wish to hear the latest ‘gup’ and ramblings from the cutting edge of information provision. What is there to say? To-day is the 397th anniversary of sir Thomas Bodley’s death, may his grave be forever fragrant. We bunnies will be having a small ceremony, which marks also the first Cadbury’s Cream Egg of the season: photographs to follow. It is 25 Deg. C. and hazy in Calcutta, and 12.35 in Teheraan. On this chill, damp, day, let us look forward to summer, with an old holiday snap from my cousin Amisha Bunny. Time for a bunny cuddle now.
